WOW. This thing still exists?!?

So Single Track Frame of Mind is still here, huh?  Obviously I haven't posted anything since the Winter of '15. I've been running, racing, hiking, and climbing my ass off these last few years but have just been sharing it on Facebook instead of doing any real writing. Facebook just makes it too darn easy to throw quick race reports up nowadays.

Anyway, I was wanting to do a more comprehensive write up of a 50K epic mountain run than Facebook is designed for. I didn't want to drop a boring file in a cloud with a link so, here I am. Maybe this can be an excuse to start "blogging" again. Does anyone else still do that? Is everyone podcasting now or just tweeting short race reports? What about Vlogging? Maybe it's time to get a go-pro and a selfie stick and take it to You Tube. Naw...Turns out I've got a face for radio...but I've also got a voice for print so let's just stick to the blog.

Anywho, I'll have a run report up in the next couple of days for the 2019 MURCA Virtual 50K run benefiting The Warriors Keep. For this adventure I flew out to Las Vegas and ran in the Spring Mountains bagging Bristlecone Peak and UN 7,401 in deep snow on the way to 30 mountain miles. It was slightly awesome. I'll also try and do some work on this antiquated blog just in case writing the race report reawakens a desire to write more....I'll let you know on Face-book.

2015 Psycho Wyco Run Toto Run 50k Trail Race: There’s no way I’m Writing Another Race Report About it.

Official Race Report: I ran uphill, I ran downhill. It was frozen and then it was muddy…

Ok, seriously. Considering my last post was the 2014 Psycho Wyco, I really do need to start contributing more to the blog. That is; if I can find it. For a minute it looked like a visit to the Way Back Machine would be needed.  I’ve had plenty of adventures between Psychos, I just haven’t blogged any of them. (Hmmm, if it’s not on the internet, did it really happen)?

For my 44th Ultra, I returned to the same race as the 1st and there’s a good reason for that. Bad Ben Holmes and the KC Trail Nerds have a classic on their hands. The weather, the terrain, and the late winter date all conspire to make it one of the toughest 50K’s in the "flat" space between the Appalachians & the Rockies. Throw in the best volunteers around and some great swag and I just can’t stay away (I think my entire wardrobe consists of clothes with the word “psycho” on them…kind of weird considering I work in Mental Health).

So, to avoid renaming my blog “PsychoWycoFrameofMind”, I will simply post a picture-report below. Thanks once again to Bad Ben Holmes, The KC Trail Nerds, and all of the best volunteers in the sport for making Psycho happen. Special thanks to Rick & Kristi Mayo of Mile90 photography for the pictures that you are two sentences away from enjoying (or at least viewing).

Next up, I swear on the shallow graves of the whiners scattered along the Psycho Wyco course that I will follow up with another post within one week of this race report (thinking maybe a ‘Trail of the Week’ about a seldom used trail that I’ve been hitting).

See you on the Trails (but I probably won’t blog about it).

Picture Time!!
